Wellness and Stress Management
Research indicates a large percentage of doctors visits are due to stress. Stress can be harmful leading
to mental and physical health conditions. Clinical studies suggest learning how to relax and and decrease stress can
increase emotional energy and may improve immune system functioning.
The mind-body connection is a scientific study of how mental or emotional state have an impact on ones
own being, effecting the mind, brain, body, nervous and immune systems. Negative emotions or thought patterns
can undermine functioning and positive thoughts or emotions can have a restorative effect.
Learn mind/body techniques for relaxation, stress reduction, positive thinking and emotional states.
Complimentary autogenic alternatives such as visualization, Meditation and Self Hypnosis.
Visualization is a relaxation technique which helps guide our images, thoughts and beliefs, to achieve a desired
outcome. A person practices visualizing and focusing their imagination, as though what they are imagining is
real. It is based on the concept that your body and mind are connected and involves all the senses.
Meditation is an attempt to bypass the conscious thinking mind and bringing it to a state of relaxation. This is
performed by taking the focus of attention and bringing it to somewhere else like, the breath,a mantra, or a
prayer etc. The Goal being to help one function in a more positive peaceful state of mind.
Hypnosis is a technique which brings about deep relaxation and self regulation of ones own state of awareness.
An individual is taught how to go into a meditative state, then if they wish, continue on to a deeper relaxed
state and work on changing a thought, idea, belief or behavior. It is a non invasive procedure, using positive
suggestion and mental imagery. Individual results vary and clients must receive a medical evaluation.
All of the above are examples of how we can alter our state of awareness. During this time our subconscious mind is more receptive to suggestion and we are capable of changing, performing, calming and healing, etc.
