A Consultation provides counseling to individuals, couples and families. People seek help for a for a variety of reasons: Personal problems,
Relationship and Career difficulties, Managing stress.
Individuals seek counseling for conflicts, such as, not feeling the way they use to, being unhappy with their relationship or career, a personal situation may arise and one is unsure how to handle the problem or make a decision. The stressors are explored and a plan is developed with a solution focus.
Relationship, Couples and Marriage Counseling is available addressing issues which interferes with the emotional connection between two people. A particular conflict of immediate concern is addressed and worked on, in a short-term brief manner.
Couples therapy is longer term work, exploring and addressing the psychodynamics of each partner. Goals are created such as, learning how to enhance communication, develop an understanding of the other person or helping to modify perceptions. When couples come in to work on their relationship and want to stay together, the hope is to repair the intimacy and bring back the stability once known. An integrated approach is implemented by the Counselor/Therapist and key elements from human interaction theories are applied to help facilitate change.
Clients also come in for help if they decided to part ways and dissolve the marriage. The parties will be assisted in making this life change a smooth transition.

Extended family or in-law issues, Parenting, Blending families, Grief, Illness.
Susan is a trained mediator through the NJ Law center, pursuant to court rule 1:40-12 and has been appointed by the NJ Courts as a Parent Coordinator. She is also a trained collaborative coach and her clinical course work education includes learning how to help Individuals, Couples and Families.
